Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Testing Package These tests are performed to help evaluate hormonal imbalances associated with PCOS and understand their impact on the menstrual cycle, ovulation, and metabolism. The package typically includes the following: Lutonin-H1 (LH) hormone: Helps regulate ovulation and is often elevated in PCOS. FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone): Responsible for egg maturation; its level is compared to LH to assess ovulation. Total/Free Testosterone (Testosterone): May be elevated in PCOS, causing symptoms such as increased hair growth or acne. DHEA-S: An androgenic hormone secreted by the adrenal glands; elevated levels may contribute to symptoms. Prolactin (Prolactin): Measured to rule out other causes of menstrual irregularities. TSH (Thyroid-Synthetic Hormone): To ensure thyroid function, as thyroid dysfunction can mimic PCOS symptoms. Estradiol (female hormone) Assesses ovarian activity and female hormone levels. Insulin/HOMA-IR (in some packages) Assesses insulin resistance associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Fasting Blood Sugar or HbA1c (sometimes) To monitor the effect of PCOS on blood sugar levels.
Tests are performed to assess hormones related to ovarian function and ovulation. These include measuring LH, FSH, testosterone, prolactin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), as well as blood sugar or insulin levels. These tests are used to help diagnose polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and monitor the condition along with clinical examination and ultrasound.
