1. The tourniquet must be used by a trained healthcare professional, following the manufacturer’s instructions and the healthcare facility’s protocol.
2. Before use, inspect the strap and buckle for cleanliness, damage, and correct release function.
3. Position the tourniquet around the arm above the blood collection site selected by the professional, avoiding twists in the strap or trapping skin in the buckle.
4. Fasten the buckle and adjust the strap sufficiently to make veins more prominent, without excessive tightening or restricting arterial blood flow.
5. Release the tourniquet once blood flow is established, according to the applicable protocol, and before withdrawing the needle.
6. Open the buckle using its release mechanism and gently remove the tourniquet. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning or disposal after use.
