The Adtemp™ 421 Tympanic Infrared Ear Thermometer provides a fast and convenient way to measure body temperature through the ear. Its advanced sensor detects infrared energy emitted from the eardrum and surrounding tissue, then displays the result clearly on an illuminated LCD screen.

•  Ensure that the probe and ear canal are clean.
• Press the ON/OFF button.
• Wait until the °C or °F symbol flashes and the ready signal sounds.
• For children under one year, gently pull the ear straight back.
• For children aged one year through adults, gently pull the ear upward and backward.
• Gently insert the probe snugly into the ear canal.
• Press the START button and wait for the completion beep.
• Remove the thermometer and read the result on the display. 

1.  Always use the same ear when monitoring temperature changes.
2. Make sure the ear canal does not contain excessive earwax.
3. Wait a few minutes before measuring after waking from sleep.
4. After three to five continuous measurements, wait at least 30 seconds before measuring again.
5. After cleaning the probe with alcohol, wait five minutes before using it.
6. When necessary, take three readings in the same ear and use the highest result.

• Keep it in a clean, dry place away from dust and direct sunlight.
• Protect it from impacts, drops, and extreme temperatures.
• Recommended storage temperature: -25°C to 55°C.
• Recommended operating temperature: 10°C to 40°C.
• Remove the battery if the device will not be used for a prolonged period.
• Keep out of the reach of children.
