1. Remove the EKG ruler from its protective sleeve.
2. Place it directly over the printed ECG tracing.
3. Align the appropriate scale with the waveform.
4. Use the seconds scale to measure the required intervals.
5. Select the one-cycle or two-cycle scale as needed.
6. Clean the ruler after use and return it to its protective sleeve.
