For collection of male urethral specimens for:

• Perform hand hygiene and wear gloves.

• Insert swab 2–4 cm into urethra.

• Rotate gently and withdraw carefully.

• Immediately place into transport medium or break shaft into collection tube.

• Do not use if packaging is damaged or expired.

• Collect specimen before antibiotic administration whenever possible.
