Male Urethral Swab – Sterile

The sterile male urethral swab is designed for collecting urethral specimens for microbiological, molecular, and antigen-based testing. It features a rigid stainless-steel wire shaft with a diameter of 0.9 mm, a handle measuring Ø12 × 88 mm, and a degreased absorbent cotton tip for specimen collection. Each swab is radiation sterilized and individually peel-packed, with 100 pieces supplied per bag.

1. Perform hand hygiene and wear gloves.
2. Insert swab 2–4 cm into urethra.
3. Rotate gently and withdraw carefully.
4. Immediately place into transport medium or break shaft into collection tube.

1. Single use only; do not reuse or resterilize.
2. Do not use if the packaging is open or damaged, or after the expiry date.
3. Avoid touching the cotton tip or allowing it to contact any surface before specimen collection.
4. Do not force insertion; stop the procedure if resistance, severe pain, or bleeding occurs.
5. Confirm compatibility with the requested test and the laboratory’s instructions.
6. Dispose of the used swab according to medical waste disposal procedures.
